Nationalities of 8 people who perished in Manila plane crash revealed

Two foreign nationals, a Canadian and an American, and six Filipinos died when an accident involving a medical evacuation plane in Sunday evening.
Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal said those onboard were a medic, a nurse, a doctor, flight crew and patient who was with a companion.
The Lionair plane crashed when caught fire before takeoff on Sunday.
The ill-fated medevac plane is owned and operated by the same company that was also involved in a similar crash six months ago.
It was in September 2019 that a Lionair plane crashed in Calamba City in Laguna killing at least nine passengers.
Philippine aviation authorities are considering whether or not to ground the fleet of helicopter and executive jet charter service company Lionair Inc.
“Right now, the initial step that we are looking into is grounding the whole fleet. It’s quite alarming, but we are looking into the records deeply,” Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Deputy Director-General for Operations Captain Don Mendoza said.
He also said the aircraft was recorded to have been worthy to fly, and that a day before the crash, the aircraft was used to transport medical supplies to Iloilo.
Initial reports from the CAAP show that the aircraft encountered a technical problem while rolling for takeoff on Runway 06.
Early Monday morning, the aircraft has been removed from the NAIA runway.
