Indian gov't promises aid to poor, homeless amid lockdown due to COVID-19

A total of 1.3 billion people in India are now in a dilemma following the strict lockdown since Tuesday. 
 
Different media reports say that there were millions stranded and without food since the announcement of the three-week lockdown was made less than four hours. 
 
As of Saturday, The Times of India reported and posted photos of stranded migrant workers still figuring a way out of the city.

Images show long queues and even passengers waiting for buses to arrive. 
 
In a report by BBC, it said that the country’s response in handling of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak was “pre-emptive, pro-active, and graded”. 
 
However, in another report by The Times of India, it said that the government has given an assurance to help those affected by the lockdown, especially the poor and the homeless. 
 
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that free cooked food will be provided twice a day to the homeless in night shelters. 
 
The Delhi government will also provide free ration to over 7.2 million people, and the quantity will be increased from 5 kilograms to 7 kilograms for every ration card-holder.

From locals, to volunteers, and to city workers, there are a bunch of people helping out one another to survive. 
 
Officially, there are about 9000 people who have tested positive of COVID-19 in India. 
 
So far, there were 20 people who have reportedly died from it.
