The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has confirmed that 20 people have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Among them is a Filipino expat.

The new cases now bring the total of COVID-19 cases in the Gulf state to 255.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, the ministry’s spokesperson, said that the new cases include six Kuwaitis and an expat from the Philippines. They all have a travel history to UK.

The other 13 cases had close contacts with those who tested positive from the virus. One of them is a Kuwaiti, 9 came from India, and another 3 came from Bangladesh.

Last week, Kuwait has imposed an evening curfew from 5PM to 4AM to prevent the spread of the virus.

Violators could be jailed up to three years or fined up to KD10,000 under the Civil Defense Law.

The Kuwaiti Cabinet also suspended the government and private sectors for two more weeks.
