PH Embassy in UAE urges Filipinos to stay at home, follow measures against COVID-19

The Philippine Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a request for Filipinos in the country to heed the guidelines set by the UAE government and to stay at home or their accommodation areas. 
 
Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana, in a reminder issued on Monday, says Filipinos should not go out if it’s unnecessary. 
 
The ambassador also requested OFWs and their families to also comply with all the rules and current measures being implemented in the UAE.

Her request came after the UAE government through the Ministry of Interior and the National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management Authority issued a joint statement calling upon the public to stay at home unless it’s absolutely necessary to get essential supplies, such as food and medicine, or perform essential jobs. 
 
“Ito po ay para sa inyong kapakanan at seguridad. Mahigpit po itong ipapatupad ng mga awtoridad ang mga patakaran na ito at ang paglabag ay maaaring patungan ng kaukolang aksiyong legal,” Quintana said. 
 
Under the UAE law on communicable diseases, fines and jail terms will be enforced against all violators.

The move of the UAE government was to primarily limit social contacts and avoiding crowded places to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public. 
 
There will be additional instructions to be issued involving the use of public transport, taxis, and other means of transportation.
