Routine US visa issuance suspended

The US State Department has announced that routine visa services in most of the countries are suspended as a preventive measure against the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, Reuters reported.
The Department did not identify the countries, but services in about six nations will either stop or be reduced.
“Embassies and consulates in these countries will cancel all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments as of March 18, 2020,” the spokeswoman said.
Emergency visa services, however, will continue “as resources allow,” and that the services to US citizens will remain available.
The COVID-9, which originated from in China late last year, has now infected over 212,000 people and caused 8,700 deaths in 164 nations, triggering emergency lockdowns and injections of cash unseen since World War II.
