A gang of seven is facing charges at Dubai Court for robbing a Dh666,770 from money exchange service vehicle.
Court records show that the robbers, all Pakistanis aged between 27 and 41, planned to steal from the car upon leaving the money changer at Al Quoz area on December 16 last year.
With the help of a lookout, the gang were able to block the vehicle in two cars, Khaleej Times reported.

The masked thieves smashed the windows of the vehicle and threatened the three employees inside with metal rods and sticks.
One of the accused threatened one of the employees with a knife if he will not give the briefcase containing money.
The driver of the vehicle recounted the incident which happened around 9:35 in the evening.
“Shortly after we moved in our vehicle, a pick-up truck blocked our way and another car stopped behind us. Several masked men then stepped off. They smashed the glass windows of our vehicle with sticks and metal rods. I felt terrified and one of them forced me into giving him the money after threatening me with a knife,” he said.

They were able to steal cash in different currencies amounting to Dh666,770.
Police said some of the cash was recovered from the main accused who tried to flee the country through Sharjah.
The incident was reported at Bur Dubai police station
The trial will resume on April 22.
