BREAKING: Filipinos barred from leaving PH as DoTr issues updated guidelines for aviation sector

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has issued guidelines for the aviation sector limiting outbound and inbound flights under the enhanced Community Quarantine implemented in the entire Luzon region.
The agency said that foreigners may depart from the Philippines within 72 hours upon the effectivity of the community quarantine.

However, airport operations are limited to outgoing flights carrying foreigners and tourists: “Filipinos are not allowed to go outside the country,” said the statement.
It is not yet clear if the statement also covers OFWs.
DOTr states that the guidelines are effective starting today, March 17 until April 13.

The inbound flights, meanwhile, will only be for Filipinos who are returning to the country.

Also, flights would be made available for medical or health-related purposes, as “Land, air and sea travel of uniformed personnel for official business, especially those transporting medical supplies, laboratory specimens related to the COVID-19, and other humanitarian assistance, shall be allowed.”
