Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin Jr. has confirmed that three Filipinos were fined by Spanish authorities for breaking quarantine rules.
Spain has become the third highest number of confirmed coronavirus disease or COVID-19 cases outside mainland China. The country is now on partial lockdown to further prevent the spread of the virus.
“@DFAPHL 3 Pinoys caught violating quarantine rules in Madrid and fined. Good. Learn Spanish, you’re in Spain. In the Philippines, learn English if you are visiting orientals,” Locsin said in a tweet.
The Foreign Affairs Chief did not disclose other details about the Filipino violators in Madrid. Spain has now 9,190 cases with 309 deaths.
