France imposes stringent measures to contain COVID-19

France announced that it would shut stores, restaurants, and non-essential shops beginning on Saturday as it reported 3,600 cases and 61 fatalities due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
French government banned all mass gatherings exceeding 100 people, closed schools and asked business to impose telecommuting for its workers, Time reported.

Tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Versailles Palace were also shut for an indefinite period to curb the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, the European country decided to go ahead with municipal actions on Sunday, but authorities devised measures to compel the citizens to observe social distancing and to disinfect surfaces.

Voters were urged to bring their own pens at the polling precincts to sign the register.
The shutdown has left theatres, concert hall as well as the tourism in financial trouble following the enforcement of the radical measures, according to a report from France24.
