OWWA: No signal of job losses for OFWs due to coronavirus outbreak

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Chief Hans Cacdac said that there are no negative signals that the coronavirus disease affects the jobs of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
 
Cacdac said that’s it’s too early to tell if the coronavirus will take a toll on jobs overseas.

“So far, there have been no negative signals na magbabawas na sila or ayaw na nila ng Pilipino,” Cacdac  said.
 
The Philippine Statistics Authority says that there are over 2.3 million Filipino workers abroad.

“While everybody on that ship was quarantined, they were asked to work and serve the 3,000 passengers,” Cacdac said on Filipino workers at the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship in Japan.
 
“They served beyond the call of duty and more than ever, the quality of our workers, domestic workers included cannot be overemphasized,” he added.
