VIDEO: OFW seeks help after nearly beaten her to death by employer

Nida Gabin Olivar, 35, went to Saudi Arabia to support her family in Wao, Lanao del Sur. But what she thought as an opportunity turned into a nightmare as she suffered in the hands of her employer.
The overseas Filipino worker (OFW) ran away from her employer in Saudi after she was nearly beaten to death.
In a video shared to TFT by Michael Santos, a member of United Overseas Filipino Worker in Asir Region (UOFWAR), a shelter for maltreated OFWs, the domestic helper’s body can be seen covered with fresh bruises. She was sobbing and in trauma when they saw her, said Santos. The Filipina also lost many strands of her hair.
According to Santos, Olivar related to him that her employer made her work for more than 14 hours a day but would often starve her. She was not also paid her salary due for months.
She managed to escape last February 8 and sought refuge in the shelter.
According to Santos, Olivar is now recovering from her injuries and she was turned over to her recruitment agency in Asir as ordered by the police.
UOFWAR has already reached out to the Consulate and other concerned agencies for her immediate repatriation.

  1. When is this going to end? They’ve been raped, tortured, slaved, and on and on by Arabs or middle easterns. Please stop sending domestic helpers in Middle East.
