At least ten people were killed when unidentified men shot indiscriminately at two shisha bars in the western German city of Hanau, near Frankfurt Wednesday night.

At least four people were also injured.

One of the suspects was killed during a daring manhunt operation.

German newspaper The Bild reported that three or four perpetrators who were allegedly driving a dark-colored vehicle along the Kesselstadt district fired at the first shisha bar “Midnight” along Kalsbader Strasse.

Then series of shots were also fired at passers-by at the Arena Bar & Café.

Elite policemen from Germany’s Special Operational Units (SEK) chased one of the suspects that led them into a row house where the shooter lives.

The Bild reported the SEK burst the door. Screams such as “Come out!” and “Where’s your son?” were heard in the neighborhood.

The suspect was allegedly killed during the follow up operation.

The motive of the shooting is still unknown. Hessen police force urged the people to contact them if they have information and refrain from spreading unverified information.

Hanau Mayor Claus Kaminsky said the shooting “deeply affected” him.

“The very fact that eight people lost their lives shakes me,” he told The Bild.
