Asian offered housekeeping job ends up in brothel in Abu Dhabi

An Asian woman fell victim to human traffickers after accepting a job offer as a maid in Abu Dhabi.

The victim left her sponsor from another emirate and met with an Asian man who offered her the job as a caretaker for the elderly.

However, the victim was taken to the suspect’s house instead where she was locked up and forced to work as a prostitute from 7 o’clock in the evening until 3 in the morning the next day.

The victim said she was tortured whenever she refused to work for the suspect and claimed he was being monitored by the suspect’s accomplice.

She managed to escape a month later and reported the incident to the police who immediately formed a team to arrest the suspect, Gulf Today reported.

An investigation of Public Prosecution revealed that the suspect has a residency card, and that he has been residing in the UAE for two decades.

The probe also revealed that the defendant, who works as a driver, runs a prostitution den that tricks women to work as prostitutes and traffics them to sex offenders.

He also posed as a CID agent to intimidate his victims.

The Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment and ordered his deportation for human trafficking, assault, and running a prostitution den.

The Court also ordered the closure of the brothel.

The suspect appealed the ruling to the Appellate Court, which reduced his sentence to 10-year imprisonment and ordered his deportation after paying compensation to the victim.
