The only person to have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Cambodia will now be discharged from the hospital today.
The Ministry of Health’s Communicable Disease Control Department (CDCD) said in a news release Sunday that the 60-year-old patient has fully recovered.
Ministry of Health spokesman Ly Sovann said the latest tests from the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge of Jia showed that the patient has tested negative for the virus three times after 14 days in quarantine and medication at the Preah Sihanouk Province Referral Hospital. He tested positive for the virus on Jan 27.
“The coronavirus patient has completely recovered and will be allowed to leave the hospital on Monday, Feb 10,” CDCD posted on its official Facebook page.
Jia will also be walking out of the hospital together with her three family members, who were also being kept in quarantine as a precaution.
They traveled from Wuhan City in China, where the outbreak originated. His family members tested negative.
