UAE launches early warning system against novel coronavirus outbreak

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) in UAE revealed that it will roll out its newly developed and activated electronic system to identify patients who are at high risk of developing and contracting the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The Ministry said that an early warning system (Wareed) has already been activated in all healthcare facilities in the UAE.

Authorities have reported five cases of the novel coronavirus in the UAE, most of whom are Chinese nationals.
The early warning system helps in managing a potential coronavirus outbreak through algorithms that help in identifying if the patient is at a high-risk of contacting the virus.
The Wareed system places consecutive orders for the patient to be isolated and treated immediately.

Suspected coronavirus cases will be subjected to a set of tests and treatment protocols based on international medical standards.
“With the risk and numbers of infected population rising globally, the MoHAP’s Wareed team immediately implemented protocols. The timely customization of the Wareed system, which links patient data in 88 health facilities and contains an integrated database, has already started to save significant time for our clinicians on the ground, helping them quickly identify, coordinate and manage a potential outbreak,” Assistant Under-Secretary of the Support Services Sector at the ministry Awad Saghir Al Ketbi said in a statement.
