Philippine Airlines to mount special flights to bring stranded passengers to and from China

Philippine Airlines will be mounting special flights starting February 10 for passengers who were stranded because of flight cancellations to and from China due to the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak.
PAL said that the special flights will have the Manila-Xiamen and Xiamen-Manila routes and will be staffed with pilots and cabin crew who volunteered for the service.
“The inbound flight from Xiamen will enable Filipino citizens and holders of Philippine permanent resident visas to fly back to the Philippines,” PAL said in a statement.
The outbound flight from Manila will allow Chinese and other non-Filipino nationals to return to mainland China, the flag carrier said.
“Flight PR 334 will depart Manila for Xiamen at 7:30 a.m. on February 10, arriving at 9:55 a.m. The return PR335 leg will depart Xiamen at 11:05 p.m. and arrive in Manila at 1:50 p.m. on February 10,” PAL said.
PAL however clarified that the special flights are still subject to government approvals and waiver of the travel ban for concerned pilots and cabin crew.
“The volunteer pilots and crew will also have to submit to home quarantine for 14 days after their return to the Philippines,’ PAL added.
President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the travel ban for all flights to and from China, Macau and Hong Kong last February 2.
