Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation donates $100 million for nCoV response

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced Thursday that it will provide $100 million for the global response to 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV ARD).
The funding will help strengthen detection, isolation and treatment efforts; protect at-risk populations; and develop vaccines, treatments and diagnostics.
“Multilateral organizations, national governments, the private sector and philanthropies must work together to slow the pace of the outbreak, help countries protect their most vulnerable citizens and accelerate the development of the tools to bring this epidemic under control,” Gates Foundation CEO Mark Suzman said in a statement.
The Gates Foundation said they are in close coordination with the World Health Organization, Chinese frontline responders, and other organizations.
Around 20 million will be allotted to isolation and treatment efforts; protect at-risk populations; and develop vaccines, treatments and diagnostics, while $60 million will be allocated for research and development of vaccines.
