3 vessels from China barred from docking in Dumaguete

Three vessels from Taizhou, China were barred from disembarking in Dumaguete port on Tuesday night.
The three vessels, a tug boat and two barges, were brought to the country by Industry Movers Corporation (IMC) for refurbishing.
Cebu Daily News reported that the vessels were told by Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to anchor at sea while their papers are being verified following a proper protocol on handling novel coronavirus outbreak.
On Monday, February 3, 2020, PPA announced that passengers and seafarers who recently traveled in China are not allowed to disembark at any port under the PPA.
The 11 Filipino crews of the three ships will be placed under quarantine for 14 days.
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Coronavirus, said in a press statement that he will not allow the crew to dock in the city’s pier.
