ESPN citing a source inside the company said the move was to prevent resellers from stockpiling on Bryant’s gear and then selling it to a higher price.
Nike is reportedly reevaluating its strategy of selling the iconic signature shoe series of the late basketball star.
The brand is also discussing whether to release or postpone the launch of the Kobe 5 Protro, which is scheduled to be released on February 7.
The company released their statement following Bryant’s death.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to those closest to Kobe, especially his family and friends,” Nike said in a statement.
