Nanny arrested after dipping toddler’s arm in boiling water

A domestic helper was arrested after the child of her employer was found with burns on her left arm and hand.
The incident happened while the parents of the 16-month-old girl were at work.
According to the victim’s father, he received a call from her eight-year-old daughter telling him that her younger sister had been burnt and was sobbing.
He went home afterwards and brought the toddler KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore.
The 30-year-old housekeeper told her employers the girl had accidentally touched a hot cooking pot, but the mother was suspicious and decided to check the CCTV.

They reported the incident on Wednesday, January 22 to the authorities upon watching the footage showing the housekeeper deliberately dipping the toddler’s arm in the boiling water.
“When we saw the CCTV, we were so shocked … we really couldn’t bear to keep watching, because this was too (hard to watch),” he said.
The toddler would have to undergo a skin graft procedure due to severity of her burns, Channel News Asia reported.
When confronted by her employers, the housekeeper told them that she did it so she could go back to her home in Myanmar.
