A female Arab school teacher is on trial in Sharjah on charges of forcing a schoolboy to take off his shoes, resulting in bruises to his foot.
A court of first instance fined the teacher Dh10,000 but she was acquitted this week by a court of appeals, according to Al Khaleej newspaper.
The teacher denied her decision caused to the injuries to the schoolboy as his father claimed in court, with her lawyer telling the judge that all school halls and alleys leading to the bus are carpeted and that the father’s statements were false.
He said the teacher forced the student to take his shoes off because they violated management rules as they are considered risky.
The paper said the judge this week acquitted the teacher on the grounds there was no evidence the student suffered a foot injury and that the previous court sentence was based solely on his father’s testimony.
