A local man who hit his wife told court in Fujairah that he did so in self-defence because she assaulted him first.
Pressed by the judge, the wife admitted she smacked her husband after he insulted her during an argument at home.
The man told court:”she hit me first… I had to hit back because what she did was insulting and disrespectful… what I did was in self-defence.”
Newspapers said the judge pressed the couple to agree on reconciliation for the sake of their children.
Both of them accepted the judge’s request and dropped the charges against each other, they said.
