'I will even sign the document twice over’: President Duterte supports regulation of high cost medicine

President Duterte vowed that he would sign the proposal of DOH to regulate and lower the price of prescription medicine and would even sign it twice over for the betterment of the Filipino people.
Moreover, President Duterte disclosed in the interview that the draft of the proposal has yet to reach his office, as per an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN.
“Wala pa, maybe they are reviewing it. Kapag nasa table ko, sa gabi, binabasa ko. I have not come across any, I heard of it but hard facts are not yet there. But in principle, I will even sign it twice over,” he said.
The proposal of the Department of Health would dramatically help millions of Filipinos by regulating the price of 120 drugs used to cure known diseases among Filipinos like hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic lung diseases, neonatal diseases or those affecting newborn babies, and major cancers.
Meanwhile, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health made a strong appeal to the medical companies to balance their business interest from national interest.
99 percent of Filipinos weren’t able to afford their prescription medicines due to their high cost, based from a 2019 survey by Pulse Asia.
