Palace reminds public to remain cautious as Taal Volcano eruption continues

Malacañang on Sunday said it is closely monitoring the Taal volcano situation and urged the public to remain vigilant.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that President Rodrigo Duterte has instructed concerned agencies to “undertake measures necessary to place the people within the perimeter of Taal out of the danger zone.”

Panelo noted that the concerned agencies of the national government are now working closely with the Provincial Government of Batangas to ensure the safety of the residents, including their evacuation.

Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised alert level 4 over Taal Volcano after the volcanic island continued to release plumes of ash.

Forced evacuation is currently ongoing for the residents within the 17 kilometer danger zone.
