Former NBA Commissioner David Stern dies at 77

Former National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner David Stern has died. He was 77 years old.

In a statement released by the league, it said that Stern suffered a brain hemorrhage last Dec. 12, 2019 and underwent surgery.

According to a report by ESPN, it said that Stern’s management paved way for great growth for the NBA with minimizing drugs and violence problems to become a global sport led by phenomenal players such as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James.

NBA legends such as Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant also issued separate statements sharing how Stern has helped them, as well.

Stern retired in 2014 after 30 years with the NBA.

He passed away with his wife, Dianne, and their family at his bedside.
