Bello demands charges against killers of OFW in Kuwait, or deployment ban stays

The Labor Department said that the partial deployment ban to Kuwait will stay while waiting for charges to be filed against suspects responsible for the murder of slain OFW Jeanelyn Villavende.

Bello said that he will consider lifting the ban if Villavende’s killers will be formally charged, as per a report from GMA News.

“The reason why we decided to impose itong deployment ban is to send a message to the Kuwaiti authorities na we want justice to our Jeanelyn. Short of that, it may ripen to a total deployment ban. Kaya hinihintay namin na ma-charge,” Bello said.

“Kapag (nakasuhan na) nila yung dalawang suspect, we will consider lifting. Pero kapag hindi ginawa yan, magiging total deployment ban na,” he furthered.

Bello said that Kuwaiti ambassador told him that the employers have already been charged, but the Labor Chief wants proof.

“Sabi ko, I need proof na merong formal charge na. Sabi niya, official holiday ngayon sa Kuwait. So Monday he promised to give me a copy of the charge sheet,” he added.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said that they also hired the ‘best Kuwaiti lawyers,’ to handle the case of Villavende to ensure justice will be served.
