Twenty four people including a 2-year-old toddler were rescued in Naga City, Cebu after their boat capsized on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the details provided by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Substation in Naga City, they received a call at 1:30 p.m. of the sea accident involving motorbanca Poseidon 2.
The skipper and operator Jonnie Montero said they departed Barangay Tuyan and was enroute to Cebu City at that time when they encountered sudden strong winds and big waves.
Lt. Jr. Grade Michael John Encina, spokesman of PCG in Central Visayas, said they are looking at the possibility of overloading as one of the causes since the boat’s maximum capacity is for 7-8 persons.
