Overseas Workers Welfare Administration deputy administrator Mocha Uson does not believe the United States travel ban would apply on her due to lack of evidence, despite her having been a vocal supporter of President Duterte and vicious critic of Senator Leila De Lima.
“Sa tingin ko po walang makukuhang ebidensya ang US Secretary of State dahil guni-guni lang naman ang sinasabi ni De Lima sa kanyang paratang sa Duterte Administration. Gumagana ang ating hustisya sa Pilipinas,” Uson said as quoted by GMA News online.
US President Donald Trump had earlier signed the US national budget for 2020, with a caveat that the US State Department should bar from entry in the US all Filipinos responsible for the detention of De Lima.
The provision did not identify the Philippine officials who should be blasklisted to the US. State Secretary Mike Pompeo was given the latitude on who should be barred.
De Lima, in an interview last October, said aside from President Duterte, Uson should also be included in the blacklist.
Uson said she has no influence whatsoever to effect the arrest of De Lima.
“Kung gusto niyang magalit, magalit siya sa mga opisyal na may direktang kinalaman sa kanyang kaso. Bakit nadamay ang isang hamak na tulad ko na hindi naman parte sa pag-uusig sa kanya. Sino ba naman ako para maka-impluwensya dito,” Uson said.
Aside from President Duterte and Uson, the senator identified those whom she said contributed in persecuting her in public: former Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, former DoJ (Department of Justice) secretary Vitaliano Aguirre, Solicitor General Jose Calida, PAO (Public Attorney’s Office) Chief Persida Acosta, Sandra Cam, Dante Jimenez, Congressmen Rey Umali and Rudy Fariñas; bloggers Sass Rogando Sasot, and RJ Nieto.
