Abu Dhabi authorities decided to shut down a key grocery because of massive violations of health rules governing small shops in the emirate.
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) said its decision to close “Top save more” grocery followed a series of notices given to the shop to comply with health standards.
It said that the shop had failed to heed all those notices and that it decided to shut it down indefinitely because “it posed a threat to public health.”
In a statement carried by local newspapers, ADAFSA said health inspectors had detected massive violations in the grocery including random stacking of foodstuffs in fridges and freezers, sales of fish and poultry without known origins, failure to renew its commercial license and other violations.
