A second low pressure area (LPA) may develop into a tropical storm on Christmas Eve and bring moderate to heavy rains especially in Eastern Visayas and Caraga area.
According to Ana Clauren, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), this LPA will likely enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday evening or Monday morning.
This will be the 21st storm to enter the country and will be named “Ursula.”
As of their live weather update at 4:58 p.m. (PH Time), this LPA is moving 10 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of up to 70 kph.
It is forecast to make landfall between Eastern Visayas and Caraga area on Tuesday evening (Dec. 24) or by Wednesday early morning (Dec. 25).
It will also traverse the rest of the Visayas area.
Meanwhile, the other LPA is now 280 kilometers from Surigao del Sur. It has a low chance of turning into a storm but Clauren said this has already brought light to moderate rains in Eastern Visayas, CARAGA, and Davao Region.
