Employees of the House of Representatives will surely have a merry Christmas as P150,000 in bonus for each has been approved by House Speaker Alan Cayetano.
Inquirer.net reported that the staffers have started receiving their “Speaker’s Bonus” since last week.
However, sources quoted by the report said employees would only get P112,000 as P38,000 will be deducted for the withholding tax.
Reports from Rappler and ABS-CBN News also quoted employees confirming they have received the said amount.
However, no lawmaker has put this on record.
The amount this year is P2,000 higher than the Christmas bonus they received back in 2018 when former president-turned-House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo authorized a P110,00 bonus for every staff member.
