A man in Tennessee, the United States is now facing charges of aggravated animal cruelty for allegedly killing his cat that he found “messing up,” with his Christmas tree, WCYB media reported.
The cat died after being rushed to a hospital.
According to the report, Aaron Duke Rover struck the kitten brought it to an animal shelter, saying he found it by the roadside.
His story would have made it through except that the Washington County Animal Shelter posted the incident on its Facebook page which apparently caught the attention of a witness who came forward and told the shelter staff that Rover lied about the cat.
A video was also presented showing the man hurting the kitten. The suspect admitted that he did hurt the cat after he saw it playing with his Christmas tree.
The first hearing on Rover’s case was held last December 10. The trial will resume next year.
