PDEA Chief Aquino says drug war better off without Robredo

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Aaron Aquino revealed that the war against drugs will be better after Vice President Leni Robredo left her post.

Robredo was fired as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs or ICAD. She was co-chairing the committee then with Aquino.

Aquino said that he felt uncomfortable with Robredo co-chairing the agency.

“Masyadong malayo ‘yung aming designation para maging co-chair ko siya so nahirapan ako,” Aquino said.

“If and when sana ‘yung ka-partner ko eh same level with me, mas madali sana. Para bang ‘vice president ka eh ako undersecretary lang,’ parang ang hirap makitugma minsan,” he added.

Aquino said that the firing of Robredo gave him more chance to exercise his leadership.

“Of course, medyo nawawala ‘yung pressure kasi once na andiyan siya, I really feel uncomfortable din kasi nga vice president siya,” the PDEA chief said.

Duterte fired Robredo last month over her alleged missteps in her anti-drug czar stint.
