Abducted Chinese woman’s husband now a person of interest

The authorities said that the husband of Chinese woman allegedly abducted in Makati City on Monday is now considered as a person of interest.

Police Major Gideon Ines, Makati City Police Criminal Investigation Unit chief told GMA News that they found inconsistencies with Chen Tangbin’s statements.

Ines added that Chen had claimed that he had secured first his mother-in-law before going to the police as he feared that the abductors would also get his wife’s mother.

He also noted that Ines was mum when authorities asked if he knew who abducted his wife.

“Silent siya doon. Tinatanong din natin ‘yan kung maaaring kilala mo ba kung sino ang kumuha kasi casually lumapit naman ‘yung babae sa van bago siya nakuha then pagsakay niya parang gulat ‘yung babae na siya’y hinila na,” he said.

Ines said the investigators are now looking to the personal life of the couple to find other motives on the alleged abduction.

However, the authorities clarified that Chen is not considered as suspect for now.
