6 alleged victims of human trafficking offloaded at Iloilo airport

Six females, alleged to be human trafficking victims bound to Lebanon, have been offloaded by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Dec. 1 at Iloilo International Airport, according to a Manila Bulletin report.

The report said the women were about to board a Cebu Pacific trip to Hong Kong when the BI agents held them.

Authorities said the females were supposed to board a connecting flight from Hongkong to Beirut where they were promised work as household service workers (HSWs).

“A concerned citizen called the IACAT (Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking) 1343 action line to relay the information,” authorities said.

The women admitted they were going to Lebanon for work as HSW without the necessary documents.

The six women said a person whom they identified only as a certain “Alfred” prepared their travel documents, allegedly telling them that their visas will be given once they reached Beirut.
