18-year-old teenager with autism proven guilty of attempted murder

Jonty Bravery, 18, was proven guilty of attempted murder for throwing off a boy from a ten-story viewing platform of Tate Modern in London last August.

According to BBC News last Friday, December 6, Bravery, who was suffering from autism, told the police he attacked the child to justify a point ‘to every idiot’ for not believing he has an unstable mental health condition.

“I wanted to be on the news, who I am and why I did it, so when it is official no-one can say anything else,” he was quoted as saying.

The perpetrator who was 17 then, also told the police he heard voices in his head telling him to kill or injure someone.

The incident happened when the French national victim visited London with his family last August. The 6-year-old boy was pushed off from the 10th floor and landed on the 5th-floor roof of the art gallery.

He was treated on the scene and was immediately sent to a hospital, UK Metropolitan Police reported last Friday.

The victim suffered from brain bleeding, a fractured spine, and broken arms and legs after Bravery’s attack. He is now recovering in his native land, France, and according to his parents, he showed small signs of improvement four months after the attempted killing.

Meanwhile, Bravery was believed to have a personality disorder, aside from being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The teenager was admitted to Broadmoor hospital since October 2019, The Guardian reported.
