UAE expat scams women with marriage offer

The Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance has started hearing the case of an Arab expat who has an expired visa and allegedly scammed women by posturing as a high roller, complete with luxury cars, proposing marriage to obtain money.

Some of the cars that the scammer has rented include a Mercedes G63, s Bentley and a Range Rover. The man used this strategy to lure women in shopping malls and high end cafes to earn their trust, reports said.

Court documents showed that the man was able to rent luxury cars in behalf of his relatives.

The man used the money he took from the women to pay for the luxurious car rentals. He would also allegedly offer them fake marriage proposals and dumped them after getting their money.

Authorities said that one woman took on the courage to report the Arab guy to the police and exposed the man’s fraudulent activities.

After police investigations, law enforcement officers arrested the man, who confessed about being in a relationship with the complainant but denied that he took her money.

The suspect even tried to sell the woman’s Range Rover but was arrested before he could close a transaction.

The man is now facing charges of fraud.
