Filipino community groups sing in unison at ‘Paskong Pinoy sa Abu Dhabi’

The Filipino community joined hands in a full day of Christmas mood greetings and festivities at the ‘Paskong Pinoy sa Abu Dhabi’ – A Christmas Chorale Concert organized as a special project by the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi in the Year of Tolerance held at the Al Jaheli Theatre of the Armed Forces Officers Club and Hotel last December 6.

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE H.E. Hjayceelyn Quintana led the finale song ‘Ang Pasko ay Sumapit’ during the evening’s Christmas Chorale Concert that saw over 250 singers spanning grade school students to full time Filipino professionals in an evening that took audiences back to the Philippines’ exciting Christmas feels.

The event was augmented further as it was illuminated with Christmas Parols called ‘Parul Sampernandu’ flown all the way from the Philippines courtesy of the City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The one-night-only concert organized by the Philippine Embassy marks its biggest event of the year as it was supported by the Bayanihan Council, Philippine Emirates Private School (PEPS) Chorus, The Philippine School (TPS) Woodwind and Chorale Ensemble, The Philippine Global School (TPGS) Youth Chorale, St. Mary’s Filipino Community Choir (Dubai), Filipino Christian Church Choir, Abu Dhabi Concert Chorus, Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit at Mananayaw sa Abu Dhabi (OPMMAD), Xceed Events LLC, Philippine Business Council – Abu Dhabi, ShooterCada Photographers Circle, Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers – Abu Dhabi Chapter, and Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – UAE Chapter.

Quintana hopes that the Christmas Concert will become ‘an annual tradition’ as she also started the ‘Paskong Pinoy’ series from her previous posts Washington DC, Dublin, and Muscat – all of which have continued the tradition to usher in the spirit of Christmas for Filipinos abroad.

The morning events also witnessed several Christmas-themed activities spearheaded by the Bayanihan Council for Paskuhan 2019 themed “Pagmamahalan at Pagtutulungan, yan ang Tunay na Diwa ng Kapaskuhan” including a parol making Contest, a caroling contest, a talent competition for Mutya ng Kasambahay 2019, as well as special performances from Filipino community groups.
