Google joined in the celebration of the UAE’s 48th National Day.

In a doodle, UAE flag on top of the search giant’s homepage is featured along with a green banner on Monday, December 2. The doodle has a caption saying “United Arab Emirates National Day, Monday, 2 December.”

Six of the seven emirates entered into a union called the United Arab Emirates on this day in 1971.

These were Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain. The seventh emirate, Ras Al-Khaimah, joined the union in early 1972.

Google uses doodles to celebrate events or pay tributes to personalities.

The company first created doodles in July 200 in tome for the Independence Day of the United States. The doodle usually directs the user to a page containing the featured content’s information.
