The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized some ₱2.5 billion worth of shabu in a sting operation in Makati City.
A Chinese national was arrested in the buy bust which happened in Barangay San Antonio in Makati City.
Lt. General Archie Gamboa , PNP OIC , said the 371 kilos of shabu with an estimated value of more than Ph 2 billion could be the largest haul this year.
Gamboa said the shabu was manufactured outside the country, judging from the way it was packaged.
“As a matter of fact, we have not really discovered any shabu laboratory in the Philippines. And based on our intelligence gathering, there are none as of yet that are existing so all of these [appear to] be coming from the outside,” Gamboa said.
The PNP said it’s unclear if the confiscated shabu originated from China.
The surveillance was done for two weeks; the confiscated shabu was put inside dog food packages and cabinets.
