Tito Sotto questions celebration of LGBT ‘Pride Month’ in schools

Senate President Tito Sotto called on the Department of Education after one of its regional offices released a memo on the celebration and observance of LGBT Pride Month in June.

“This might cause confusion in young minds. It is integrated with some activities of the students from kindergarten to senior high school,” Sotto said.

Sotto added that the memo combined other events like Women’s Month, Breastfeeding Month, Peace Education Month, Children’s Month, and Human Rights Month and then the Pride Month.

“These are all very good undertakings, pero may sumingit na ganoon bigla, Pride Month,” Sotto added.

The Senate President added that pride remains as one of the 7 deadly sins.

Sotto opposes the passage of the Sexual Orientation Gender Identity Equality Bill or SOGIE.
