Around 549 emergency team members of the Ras Al Khaimah public works department drained 1,715,000 gallons of rainwater around the emirate following this week’s rainy days.
The emergency team also responded to 20 reports during the onset of heavy rains.
“Emergency reports about flooded roundabouts, as well as damaged roads have been dealt with,” Issa Al Shamsi, head of the emergency committee at the department told the Khaleej Times.
“Reports on uprooted trees, broken poles, landslides, and non-functioning traffic lights are also being handled efficiently,” he added.
“Six landslides were reported. Heavy rains hits areas like Al Dheit, Khat, Al Qussaidat, and Khuzam,” the official said.
“The teams are attending to problems in other areas – including Al Heel, Al Fahleen, Suhaila, Al Daqdaqa, Al Rifaa, and Julphar – as well.”

Some 49 tankers have been deployed as well completing 300 trips.
