‘Puro crab mentality’ — Cayetano slams Drilon, Aquino over SEA Games criticisms

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano hits Senator Franklin Drilon and former President Noynoy Aquino over their “hypocrisy” in criticizing the decision to spend billions of pesos for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Aquino and Drilon questioned the need to spend Php50 million cauldron; they said it is extravagance unwarranted.

The two opposition leaders also said the budget could’ve been used to build 50 classrooms instead.

“Ang sinasabi ko lang yung hypocrisy na nung Php10 billion ang hiningi nila sa Kongreso, para sa APEC, para sa bayan ito, representasyon ito, karangalan ito. We have to spend on known artists and singers. We have to serve good food para maganda representasyon,” Cayetano told reporters.

He added that all money spent and will be spent in the grand sporting event will be justified.

“‘Yun nakita nila at justified nila pero yung Php50-million na priceless work of art na forever pagmamay-ari ng gobyerno, sasabihin nila sana 50 classrooms na lang?,” Cayetano explained.

Cayetano added that it was Drilon and the previous administration who pushed for the K-12 program that made the classroom problem worse.

“Sen. Drilon forgot na it’s their administration na nagpilit ng K-12 kaya nagkulang na naman ng classroom,” Cayetano said.
