South Korean envoy says Korean Town to rise in Manila

South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-Man has revealed plans to construct a Korean Town in Malate, Manila.

“There are a lot of Korean restaurants, and many Korean tourists visit there. With Manila City, we are envisioning to make that area, Malate area, as Korea Town,” Han said during a press conference.

Han added that he already had a meeting with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and has asked for his support in building the Korean town.

“I asked also him to lend his full support,” Han added.

The ambassador however said there’s no timeline yet on when the town will be built. Some 1.6 million Korean tourists visited the country last year. Koreans has remained to be the top foreign visitors in the third quarter of the year.

“I made a promise to bring at least two million Korean tourists during my term,” Han added.
