Sharjah court denies bail request of man held for assaulting wife

A request by a man who had assaulted his wife and caused serious injury, has been denied by the Sharjah Public Prosecution.

The wife posted a video on Twitter asking for help which caught the attention of UAE police.

The story of Jasmine Sultana went viral after she sought help on social media.

She was seen injured after apparently having been physically assaulted by her husband.

Police responded to her appeal and arrested her husband, said a Khaleej Times report.

The court denied her husband’s bail request and is now facing charges for assaulting his wife.

The case is now under preliminary investigation. Records showed that the couple has two children.

The man reportedly took her and her kids’ passports; her gold accessories were also allegedly taken.

The assault has allegedly been going on for years, but the most extreme was when he punched her on the left eye that led to excessive bleeding.

The woman said she could no longer do anything but to post her complaint on social media.
