Former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on Wednesday said he is confused over the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte that he mistrusts Vice President Leni Robredo.
Duterte issued the statement a fee days after he appointed Robredo as co-chairperson of the Inter-agency committee on anti-illegal drugs or ICAD.
Aquino said with this development, the criteria for the appointment should be reviewed.
“’Yung unang-una, kaya nu’ng tao. Pinagkakatiwalaan mong gagawin ang trabaho at naniniwala kang gagawin niya nang tama ang trabaho,” Aquino said.
“Puwede ba ‘yung itatalaga mo hindi mo pinagkakatiwalaan? Medyo magulo ‘ata,” he added.
Aquino is Robredo’s political ally as both belong to the opposition party, the Liberal Party.
Earlier, Duterte was quoted as saying “Ang problema dito, ganito. I cannot trust her not only because she is with the opposition. I do not trust her because I do not know her.”
