Rats, cockroaches feast on fetus dumped in QC garbage

A fetus estimated to be around 6-month-old was found being feasted on by rats and cockroaches in Quezon City, Sunday morning.

P/Capt. Juan B. Mortel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection of Quezon City Police District said the baby was found at around 6:30 a.m., at Green Meadows Ave., Brgy. Ugong Norte.

A garbage collector named Elmer Pareno was doing his morning routine when he saw the bloodied corpse.

He immediately reported the incident to the barangay office near the area.

The officials then called police who temporarily brought the dead fetus at Light Funeral Services.

In May 2019, The Filipino Times also reported about a newborn boy left on the roadside in Caloocan City.

The bloodied newborn, whose umbilical cord and placenta are still intact, bore several scratches in his arms, back and legs believed to be bite-marks from rats.

The Caloocan City Social Welfare Department (CCSWD) rushed the baby for medical treatment.
