Robredo says she can adjust

Vice President Leni Robredo has said she will “adjust to limitations,” if access to intelligence information provided her in her capacity as co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs or ICAD is hampered for security reasons.

President Rodrigo Duterte has issued a warning to Robredo that he is ready to fire her as ICAD co-chairman if she exposes confidential and classified materials.

In an exclusive interview with GMA News, Duterte responded to Robredo’s recent meetings with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), community-based advocacy groups and U.S. Embassy officials to discuss the drug problem in the country.

“There’s a limit to that. I know that she’s a lawyer and she has other advisers. There are certain matters that should be kept with the government, that classified matters cannot be shared. Once she does that, she’s out, I would fire her. Because you jeopardized the security of the state,” GMA News quoted the president as saying.

Interior Undersecretary Ricojudge Exchiverri has told One News they have concerns about sharing sensitive information with Robredo, saying he doubts if the vice president is sincere in helping curb the drug problem, Rappler reported.

“What we are looking at is, is she really for real in helping us or looking into things that might be used against us? It’s just that this is a unique scenario where we invited an opposition to join,” Rappler quoted Echiverri as saying over One News’ The Chiefs. (TN)
