RAK police human gesture saves ill farmer

Ras Al Khaimah police saved the life of an Indian farmer when they paid the costs of a heart surgery after he suffered from a cardiac attack and helped bring his parents to the UAE to be with him during his recovery.

In what newspapers described as a human gesture, RAK police rushed the Othman Mohammed Othman (29) who works as a farmer for the police department, to hospital after suffering from the heart attack during work.

Doctors at Al Qassimi Hospital said Othman needed an urgent life-saving surgery, but he told them he could not afford it and would fly home for the operation.

The official daily Al Bayan said RAK police paid for all operation costs to save Othman’s life and also decided to bring in his parents to be with him.

“The operation lasted about 7 hours and was successful… this generous gesture from RAK police reflects our commitment for a man who has served us for many years… we have visited him at home to wish him a speedy recovery,” RAK police commander Major General Ali Abdullah Al Nuaimi said.

“We are committed to humanitarian work which illustrates police duty and our leadership’s vision for the spread of forgiveness, affection and cohesion among all those who live in this country,” he added.
