Duterte abolishes Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission

Malacañang has released an order by President Rodrigo Duterte abolishing the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC).

Executive Order No. 93, a copy of which was released to media today, stated that various tasks of the PRRC will be transferred to other government agencies like the Manila Bay Task Force, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The overall implementation of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Master Plan will fall under the Manila Bay Task Force.

The government is now looking into the possibility of Pasig River for transportation, recreation and tourism. There are also moves to rehabilitate and restore marine life.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources on the other hand is tasked make sure that relevant laws are enforced.

Informal settlers should also be addressed as well as obstruction near the river.
